Christopher Cowdy is the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Councillor for the Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart Ward 9.
He was born and raised in rural Northern Ireland and has lived in Edinburgh for nearly 30 years since moving here after graduating from University in Bristol. He worked in commercial property for 14 years then became Primary Carer of 2 pre-school children during the financial crisis before setting up a business in 2010 publishing local magazines.
Christopher has lived, worked and volunteered in the Ward for over 17 years and says, “The area has so much to offer but residents are being let down by a lack of day-to-day management from the Council with potholes, flooding, litter, graffiti and dog fouling all on the up while the disastrous Spaces for People project has left a bad taste in many people’s mouths.”
Christopher’s focus is on trying to ensure local voices are heard and the Council attends to the basics of day-to-day management of the city.
Away from politics and publishing Christopher chairs Children’s Hearings, helps coach youth rugby at Boroughmuir and is Treasurer/Trustee of a theatre company aimed at children and their families.
