The Labour and SNP council administration in the City of Edinburgh have voted to approve phase 2 of the Local Development Plan which includes plans to zone Cammo fields for the building of up to 700 new homes. This incursion onto green belt land continues a worrying trend on the part of the SNP and Labour to push forward with unrestrained housebuilding with no consideration for the preservation of green spaces or for the views of local residents.
Local Scottish Conservative candidate for Almond, Graham Hutchison, said:
“The infrastructure and services around Cramond, Barnton and Cammo are already severely overstretched and more housebuilding without supporting improvements to the road network would lead to further congestion, inconveniencing residents in the immediate vicinity and throughout the West of the city.”
Graham added: “The Conservative group on the council have consistently opposed the zoning of Cammo Fields for housing and as your councillor I will stand up for the views of local residents and fight the proposed development throughout the planning process.”
