Dear Neighbour,
I’m Neil Cuthbert, and I’m writing to introduce myself as the Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate for the forthcoming by-election in Colinton/Fairmilehead for City of Edinburgh Council. Following the election of a Labour councillor as the Member of Parliament for Edinburgh South West, voters will get the chance to vote for a new Councillor to represent this ward.
Having lived locally for over 25 years, I know what makes our community special. But I am also aware of how this area has been let down over the years by the Labour-led administration in City Chambers.
I firmly believe Edinburgh can do better. Having stood in the 2022 Council elections, I have learned more about our community’s needs and aspirations. While I wasn’t successful then, my interest in serving our area has only grown stronger.
I want to be part of the positive change that will make our city the best it can be for everyone who calls it home.
Colinton and Fairmilehead boasts some of the most beautiful countryside in Edinburgh - a precious natural asset that deserves our unwavering protection. Our green belt should be cherished and held in trust for future generations. If elected, safeguarding the green belt will be a top priority for me. I am committed to addressing concerns you’ve raised: repairing our roads, supporting our local schools, enhancing community safety, and improving essential services.
Please take a moment to complete the enclosed survey and share your thoughts on what matters most to you in Colinton/Fairmilehead. I’m determined to turn these priorities into action for our ward.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to meeting many of you as I campaign across the ward.
Yours sincerely,
Neil Cuthbert
Scottish Conservative and Unionist for Colinton/Fairmilehead
