Local members of the Edinburgh Conservatives have selected Miles Briggs to contest the Edinburgh South constituency. Edinburgh South is Scotland’s most marginal Westminster constituency with Labour’s majority standing at only 316 votes with the seat set to see a real 5 horse race at the General Election in 2015.
Miles Briggs said: “I am delighted that local people from across the Edinburgh South constituency have put their faith in me to stand up for them.
“Edinburgh South is the most marginal seat in Scotland with Labour’s majority standing at only 316 votes. In recent elections Edinburgh South has become a 5 horse race and the General Election next year will present a great opportunity to return a Conservative MP for Edinburgh.
“I am putting myself forward as someone who will work hard for our City and be strong voice for Edinburgh South in Westminster. If the voters of Edinburgh South put their confidence in me I will work to be Edinburgh’s voice in Westminster – fighting for what matters to local people and delivering a better deal for our City.
“Voters in Edinburgh South will face a real choice at the 2015 General Election. A choice between re-electing David Cameron and a Conservative Government with a long-term economic plan to build a stronger, more competitive economy and secure Britain's future or turning back with Labour’s Ed Miliband and Ed Balls.
“Voters increasingly recognise that is the Conservatives who are getting Britain back on the right track. Winning constituencies such as Edinburgh South is vital to ensure a strong, stable, national majority Conservative government in 2015 to finish the job.”
