BANK CLOSURE
Susan Webber shares residents’ concerns at the recent announcement of yet another bank closure in the local area. The Royal Bank of Scotland in Juniper Green is anticipated to close in the summer.
Susan Webber said: “When the Bank eventually closes in Juniper Green, local residents will face huge journey times especially if they don’t drive. It appears the only way to get to a bank is to make your way to the centre of Edinburgh which is time consuming and very inconvenient for both private customers and small businesses.”
ROADS AND PAVEMENTS
Many local residents have contacted Susan Webber, to raise the state of roads and in particular the pavements across Pentland Hills. Susan Webber commented: “I am campaigning hard for improvements to roads and pavements locally. If elected in May as your local Councillor, I will ensure this important local issue is brought to the full attention of the Council and I will continue to actively campaign for these long awaited repairs to be carried out.”
It was also brought to Susan’s attention that the 3 tonne weight restriction and heavy goods sign at the junction of Muir Wood Road and Lanark Road is obscured and no longer clearly visible. The result of this has been many HGVs have been using this junction to turn or have been driving through the residential area. Susan has recently contacted the Council to raise this issue with them and is waiting an update on this repair.
JUNIPER GREEN VILLAGE HALL
Susan Webber has welcomed progress on work to re-open Juniper Green Village Hall for local residents. Susan is delighted that some progress has been made, albeit slow and at times with issues and challenges.
Susan Webber said: “It is fabulous, at last, to see contractors on site getting the much neglected Juniper Green Village Hall back fit for purpose to serve the local community. We have all missed this facility and the various groups and activities that take place there will be pleased to know that at some point they will be able to return to the Village Hall.”
