Litter on Braid Hills Road
I receive regular requests for litter clearance on Braid Hills Road – sadly, many motorists appear to like to deposit rubbish out of their windows whilst driving the route.
However, residents contacted me to say the situation was particularly bad following Hogmanay. I am told the Council’s Environmental Team swung into action quickly to clean up the area. I will continue to ensure regular maintenance is carried out whenever needed.

I have been contacted by a large number of constituents regarding concerns surrounding school construction works on Canaan Lane
Due to the concerns of parents and carers about the impact of the new school construction works, the Education Department has agreed a number of improvements including:
Weekly meetings between the contractor’s site manager and the school management team; monthly meetings with the Council project team, the school, the contractor and Parent Council representatives; regular updates to parents and carers as necessary; improved information on the Council website; improved signage including contact details for the contractor’s site manager; improvements to the playground area over the February break, including provision of a larger matted area and improved lighting to the side path, with further improvements over the February break.
Braid Road
The Council is undertaking a number of road safety improvements in Braid Road. These will deliver footway improvements at junctions, tightening of junctions, installation of pedestrian refuge islands with associated street lighting, installation of traffic signs and road markings at several locations on Braid Road.
The works were slated to begin on Monday 13 January and last for approximately 14 weeks, principally taking place during the week. Works start at the junction of Cluny Gardens and move southwards towards their conclusion near to Buckstane Park.
Council transport officials have indicated that any immediately affected residents with an issue should contact J Sives Surfacing Ltd. on 0131 668 3070 or for general enquiries contact CLARENCE on 0800 23 23 or email [email protected]
In addition, I am happy to raise any concerns residents have directly with officials.
