The Edinburgh Conservative and Unionist Association wants to thank our members, volunteers and supporters for their fantastic efforts during the campaign.
Across the Lothian Region, we returned 3 MSPs and consolidated ourselves as the largest opposition Party in Scotland. Against the odds and against most of the polls, the Scottish Conservatives won 31 seats, more votes than ever before and our highest ever vote share. For the next five years, we will work to be the alternative government to the SNP. It will require a big effort but with your continued support we have every confidence that we can achieve it.
Congratulations go to our successful candidates: Miles Briggs MSP, Sue Webber MSP and Jeremy Balfour MSP. We look forward to working with them all over the coming weeks and months. We were sad to see that Gordon Lindhurst was not returned to Holyrood by the voters in Edinburgh Pentlands but wish to thank him for his service to the party over the years.
We would also like to thank our other constituency candidates across Edinburgh. Scott Douglas (Edinburgh Central), Graham Hutchison (Edinburgh Eastern) and Callum Laidlaw (Edinburgh Northern & Leith) can be immensely proud of their campaigns.
Finally, in 2016, Ruth Davidson put us on the map and the Association wants to thank her for everything that she has done to transform the party's fortunes in Scotland. For a decade, Ruth has put our party on her shoulders and carried us forward and we would not be in this position without her leadership.
