Gordon Lindhurst, Scottish Conservative & Unionist MSP for Lothian, has this week welcomed the reintroduction of written police reports for community councils in the city.
The news comes following his attendance at the Ratho Community Council meeting on Monday, where the officer in attendance provided both a briefing and a written report on local policing in the area. Provision of written reports had previously been standard before being discontinued.
Gordon welcomed the news after having raised the matter with Chief Superintendent Kenny MacDonald. He said:
“Police reports are one of the most important agenda items covered by community councils. Local people rightly want to know what is happening in their surroundings and crime and justice updates are key to feeling safe and at home in your local community.
Having attended community council meetings for a number of years, I am aware of the value that is placed on police engagement at a local level. After being elected as an MSP in May I raised the issue of written reports with Chief Superintendent Kenny MacDonald and am very pleased that he has responded and taken action on the matter so swiftly.”
