Miles Briggs, Lothian MSP, is backing Leith Rugby Club as it seeks to raise funds to expand the youth rugby it offers in the community. The club’s youth development committee has employed a coach to deliver rugby within Leith Academy and its feeder primary schools during school time and in after school activity clubs. It is keen to expand its offering and establish Sunday rugby and is looking to raise extra funds to allow it to do so. Miles has today tabled a Parliamentary motion commending the club’s efforts and wishing it well in its fundraising campaign.
Speaking today Miles said:
“ Leith Rugby Club’s Youth Development Committee is to be congratulated on its fantastic work in the Leith area in offering rugby to primary and secondary pupils. The after school activity clubs it runs are popular and a very valuable element of community life.
“ All of its youth rugby programmes depend on charitable donations and fundraising and I support Leith Rugby Club as it aims to raise additional funds so that it can expand its offering in Leith.
“ Youth sports programmes and groups like those provided by Leith Rugby Club are really important in helping boost the confidence of our young people and improving their mental and physical wellbeing.”
