Following the First Minister’s statement today that she will seek a second independence referendum, Lothian Tory MSP Miles Briggs voiced his concerns on the matter.
Speaking this morning, Miles commented that;
“Nicola Sturgeon’s statement will be greeted with dismay by thousands of residents across Lothian."
“Instead of risking more division and economic uncertainty, the First Minister and her government should be acting responsibly and choosing to work with the UK government to secure the best possible deal for Scotland and the UK in the imminent Brexit negotiations."
“ The vast majority of people I speak to across Lothian do not want a second independence referendum. They have an early opportunity at May’s council elections to send a strong message to Nicola Sturgeon that they do not want to go back to the divisions of 2014.
“Only the SNP’s warped logic can argue that Scotland leaving the EU is economically damaging but separating Scotland from the UK when Scottish exports to the UK are worth four times as much as sales to the European Union is somehow a brilliant idea.”
