2024 Volunteer Awards
Volunteers are the backbone of our communities.
Many services in our local areas would not be able to function without the dedication, hard work and kindness of volunteers.
These unsung heroes support services that make a genuine difference to people’s lives.
As well as helping others, volunteering has been shown to improve volunteers' wellbeing too. It’s human nature to feel good after helping someone out. Volunteering can also help you gain valuable new skills and experiences and boost your confidence.
More than half of the UK population gets involved in informal volunteering – but this is less visible. Informal volunteering can involve things like going shopping, providing childcare or doing housework for free for someone who is not a relative or a friend.
This year, I am holding my first Volunteer of the Year Awards for my ward celebrating the fantastic volunteers who make our communities a better place.
If you know someone who deserves to be recognised, please nominate them below.
Nominations close on Monday 27th May with winners announced during Volunteer’s Week, 3rd - 9th June, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
